This week, my beat was sports. Here are the top stories:
1. TMZ released the full video of NFL player Ray Rice
beating his girlfriend. The NFL has now suspended Ray Rice’s contract
indefinitely. The NFL has apparently known about the full video since April.
Now, Ray Rice has appealed the suspension through the NFL Players Union.
2. After pressure from fans, Adrian Peterson of the
Minnesota Vikings is now bared from all team activities due to child abuse
charges.
3. The NFL removes Rihanna’ s song “Run this Town” from the
Thursday night football opening.
4. Greg Norman, a famous baseball player almost lost his
left hand in a chainsaw accident.
The editorial I chose this week was influenced by
Ray Rice and talked about how to best stop domestic abuse in our society. I
really like how this editorial was organized. The bullet points made it easy to
follow. Furthermore, I like that the Sun-Times incorporated quotes from experts,
such as Cory Ryan who is the Director of Connections for Abused Women and Their
Children. I think including their quotes made the editorial more unique, as
well as, offered an expert’s opinion.
